This story is massive because it is directly about free speech and the ability of journalists, and all of us, to speak truthfully to the powerful and hold them to account. This story has nothing to do with Left v Right, Remain v Brexit, wealth, class, religion, colour or education. It is about all of us and truth & freedom. Here is my reasoning:
Wikileaks has uncovered a lot of really important ‘stuff’; here are 2 important discoveries:
1) Thanks to Assange/Wikileaks we know that Saudi Arabia and Qatar actively support ISIS and other Jihadists and that Western elites 100% know about this. Therefore, American/UK/Western Govts send our troops to fight ISIS & Jihadists whilst at the same time supporting those that fund and arm these very same Jihadists our forces are fighting. It’s true. Here is John Podesta and Hilary Clinton, with their own words, blatantly acknowledging this in e-mails.
This is cut and pasted from the text (about half way down): “… we need to use our diplomatic and more traditional intelligence assets to bring pressure on the governments of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which are providing clandestine financial and logistic support to ISIL and other radical Sunni groups in the region.”
NB: From Wikipedia: “In military science, logistics is concerned with maintaining army supply lines while disrupting those of the enemy, since an armed force without resources and transportation is defenceless.”
2) Thanks to Assange/Wikileaks we know that America controls the IMF, World Bank, OECD and Bank of International Settlements and actively use them as unconventional weapons of war. This is a quote from an American army manual concerning these global financial institutions and states that the US uses them as: “weapons in times of conflict up to and including large-scale general war,” as well as in effecting “the policies and cooperation of state governments.”
The BBC, Guardian, Telegraph, Times, Sun, Independent, Mail etc say nothing of these issues but instead focus their reporting on Assange himself and a string of unproven allegations i.e. rape/failing to use a condom, endangering troops, criminal hacking, Russian stooge and being personally unclean. I’ve yet to hear anything substantial from the MSM about what Wikileaks has actually discovered.
Regardless of Assange’s relative merits, or not, what Wikileaks has discovered should be headline news. Personally, I think he is being stitched up and this is yet another person in a long line of people being silenced by the powerful for telling the truth.
If you did not know about the 2 examples I’ve provided it’s not your fault; it’s the fault of our MSM.
Whatever anyone’s political leanings and personal views these 2 examples given, with links, are obviously massive public interest stories and render much of the MSM narrative as propaganda. I expect the main stream media will continue to focus on these unproven allegations and/or try to persuade us that the person exposing the ‘masters of war’ i.e. Assange, is more of a danger to our troops than the warmongers who send them to fight Saudi backed Jihadists.
For free, Wikileaks has shared crucial information on the most powerful with everyone who has access to the internet. Wikileaks does not print information based on ‘secret sources’ rather it uses the actual words of those in power; and they hate it. If the MSM will not report uncomfortable truths about the reality of the world and those with power, it seems reasonable to conclude that what the MSM does report is primarily propaganda; trying to get us to ignore or ‘unlearn’ what is true.
You’re all amazing. Be brilliant 😊
